Terms of Use
Last updated: March 16, 2026
1. Service Overview
SOKUDO (hereinafter referred to as "the Service") is a database service for measuring actual mobile data speeds overseas, operated by BeaconLink (beaconlink.jp). It provides a platform where users can measure the speeds of their mobile data connections (eSIM, SIM cards, and international roaming) and share and compare the results.
2. Terms of Use
By using this service, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please refrain from using this service.
- This service is intended for personal use.
- This service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13.
- No account registration is required to use this service.
3. About Speed Measurement
3.1 Measurement Mechanism
This service measures download speed, upload speed, latency (ping), and jitter based on data transfer to the Cloudflare CDN (with over 300 locations worldwide).
3.2 Characteristics of the Measurement Results
- The measurement results reflect the network conditions at the time of measurement and do not guarantee that the same results will always be obtained.
- Measurement results may vary depending on factors such as the network environment, device performance, time of day, and server load.
- The measurement results provided by this service are for reference only and may differ from the advertised speeds provided by telecommunications carriers.
3.3 Measurement Targets
This service is designed to measure the speed of your smartphone's cellular connection (mobile data). Measurements via Wi-Fi, landlines, tethering, mobile routers, or VPNs are not supported.
3.4 Automatic Detection of Connection Type
When a post is submitted, the system automatically determines whether the connection is via a cellular network by combining the following methods:
- Reverse DNS (rDNS) Determination: We perform a reverse DNS lookup using the IP address and classify the connection as mobile or fixed-line based on the hostname pattern (e.g., openmobile.ne.jp → mobile connection, bbtec.net → fixed-line connection)
- Auxiliary determination of ISP name: The name of the destination ISP is used as reference information.
- Browser connection type: Retrieves the connection type (Wi-Fi/cellular) using the browser's Network Information API (supported browsers only)
- Device Type: Determines whether the device is a smartphone, tablet, or desktop based on the User-Agent string
- User confirmation: At the start of the measurement, we ask the user to confirm that Wi-Fi is turned off, VPN is turned off, tethering is not in use, and the device is connected directly to the cellular network.
Based on a comprehensive scoring of these factors, if a connection is determined to be via a landline or Wi-Fi, the submission of measurement results will be rejected. This determination is intended to maintain service quality, and as a general rule, we are unable to respond to individual inquiries regarding the results. However, if you notice a clear misjudgment, please let us know so that we can use this information to improve our determination logic.
4. Handling of Submitted Data
4.1 Data Collected
When you run a speed test and click the "Post" button, the following data will be collected and saved:
- Test Results (Download Speed, Upload Speed, Ping, Jitter)
- Selected service name, connection type, and country of use
- Model name (if selected or entered by the user)
- Country of origin estimated from the IP address (breakout), ISP name
- Location information estimated based on GPS (if permitted) or IP address (city/region level)
- Carrier Name (Automatically detected from ISP information)
- Network type (4G/5G, etc., if available)
- Wi-Fi connection status (detected automatically)
- Reverse DNS (rDNS) — Retrieved from an IP address; used to determine the type of connection
- Browser network connection type (Wi-Fi, cellular, etc.)
- Self-Declaration of Direct Cellular Use (User Verification Results)
- Connection Assessment Score, Assessment Results, and Assessment Reasons
- User Agent (Browser and OS Information)
- IP address (used temporarily for the purpose of limiting consecutive posts; see below)
4.2 Data Disclosure
Submitted measurement results will be published and aggregated for the following purposes:
- Speed Rankings by Service, Country, Carrier, and Region
- Visualization on the Global Speed Map
- Browsing and Searching the Speed Database
- Display via an embedded widget (iframe) on an external site
Submitted data is published anonymously, and no personally identifiable information (such as IP addresses) is disclosed.
4.3 Use of Data
The collected data will be used for the following purposes:
- Compilation and Display of Speed Rankings and Statistics
- Service Improvement and Analysis
- Creation of content (articles, reports, etc.)
5. Posting Limit
To ensure data quality, posts from the same IP address are limited to a maximum of 10 per hour.
6. Prohibited Acts
The following actions are prohibited:
- Mass speed tests and posts using automation tools (bots)
- The act of intentionally posting false information
- Any actions that place an excessive load on the system of this service
- Scraping or redistributing data from this service without permission
- Any other acts that interfere with the operation of this service
